Celebrating Our Win as the Best Sensory Toy Retailer in Northern Ireland
We are so incredibly proud to announce that Learning SPACE has been awarded the title of 'Best Sensory Toy Retailer for Northern Ireland' at the prestigious IFEX 2024 event. This recognition is a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality sensory resources and our dedication to supporting children with special needs, their families, and educators.
A Journey Rooted in Family and Passion
Learning SPACE was founded in 2007 by myself (Lorraine) and Mary, driven by a profound personal mission. I was a teacher diagnosed with autism at 38, and my sister Mary, a social worker, recognized the significant gap in accessible resources for children with special needs. Our inspiration was deeply personal, stemming from our own experiences supporting our amazing sister Emma, who has Soto Syndrome. The challenges and triumphs we faced in finding suitable resources for Emma ignited the spark that led to the creation of Learning SPACE.
My experience as an educator and my late diagnosis of autism gave me unique insights into the needs of both children and educators. I really felt that they deserved better access to resources and knowledge, which became the foundation of Learning SPACE. Mary’s background in social work complemented my vision, providing a holistic approach to the resources and support we offer.
In 2015, the family business grew even stronger with the addition of a third sister, Naomh. Her involvement brought new energy and perspectives, making Learning SPACE a true family endeavor committed to making a difference in the community.
